I first connected with Laurie in early 2015 shortly after relocating from Houston, Texas. We discussed working together to host an open house for 514 Studios. She kindly offered to photograph the event for us. I was new to the events industry in Minneapolis, I didn't know who any of the players were in town, little did I know I just connected with one of the best photographers in Minneapolis! She was so kind and it was wonderful to just sit and chat over coffee. I knew I liked this gal.
Fast forward a few months and Laurie contacts me and says she and her fiance Tim would like to host their wedding reception at 514. It's always the ultimate compliment when fellow industry professionals (yup, Tim's in the industry too, he works for AVEX) want to use your space for their wedding. Blushing over here. And because Minneapolis is the smallest big city ever of course Laurie and I later ended up in the same book club AND her ceremony site was just a few miles from our family cabin in Northern Minnesota. So, needless to say I've been blessed to get to know Laurie even more over the past year. And I've been able to love on that adorable puppy of theirs, Mabel.
Laurie and Tim hosted one seriously beautiful reception with us captured by the amazing Eliesa Johnson with Photogen, Inc. Simple, elegant, personalized lighting and totally Laurie and Tim. That's the nice thing about 514 - you make it your own for the day.
Congratulations Laurie + Tim!
We'd love to schedule a tour for every newly engaged couple out there! But, let's be honest, we may not be a good fit for all couples. Maybe we're not big enough for your guest list, maybe we're a bit too industrial and urban for your style. Either way, it's always best to do a little research before scheduling a tour with any potential venue for your wedding or reception, time is precious and who wants to waste time on a venue that's not a real contender?
Know your guest list! Write out a tentative guest list with your fiancé and parents to determine how big a space you'll need. 514 Studios can accommodate up to 150 guests seated, but anything over 150 we highly recommend a cocktail style reception. Our max capacity is 200.
Determine your budget. How much can you spend total? The venue fee at 514 Studios runs between $3,250 - $4,750. The venue price includes all your tables, chairs, AV and the major bonus here is we also include a day-of event coordinator. You will never regret having a day-of coordinator for your wedding. They make sure everything runs smoothly from start to finish allowing you to relax and just ENJOY your day. We've seen some couples pull off their whole wedding at 514 Studios for about $10,000 and some spend upwards to $25,00, the nice thing about our space is you can really customize your wedding to fit within a budget that is most comfortable to you.
What type of food & beverage do you want to offer your guests? 514 Studios has partnered with 10 (!) really amazing caterers. The nice thing about having 10 to choose from is almost everyone can find at least one caterer that fits their style and budget. AND we don't have bar minimums at 514. You have the option to provide your own beverages for your guests, but we do need you to use a licensed and insured company like With a Twist Bartending to pour for you. With a Twist is great because they can provide you with just a bartender to pour what you bring, partial bar packages or the whole nine yards!
Do you have a planner or Day Of Coordinator? YES! A day-of event coordinator is different than a venue manager. Our venue price includes day-of coordination services from MAVEN. They'll meet with you 4-6 weeks prior to your big day and take the reins from there, managing all your deliveries, set-up, timeline, cleanup and breakdown as well as any stressed out family members too. ;-)
Do you need to get ready on site? If so, The Green Room is perfect for you! You'll have access starting at 12 noon. You're welcome to order a bit of food for lunch and schedule to have your hair and makeup done on-site. It's a great place to stash all your personal items, no need to shove stuff under the dessert table here!
Do you want to host your ceremony and reception at the same place? 514 Studios can accommodate that! Our contracts are for 12 hours of access, so you are more than welcome to utilize our space for both your ceremony and reception. If you want a room flip with can handle that too!
At 514 Studios we love hosting weddings and receptions. We've worked hard to make our venue an easy and stress free space to host an event, providing you with all the major items, such as tables, chairs, AV and an event coordinator, but still allowing you the freedom to select from a wide range of vendors to customize your wedding to your style and budget.
If we sound like a good fit for your wedding, reception or next big event reach out, say hello and let's find a time to meet and chat more.

It's hard to put into words how awesome this couple is - but thankfully Jason Worrell does a great job capturing Jalisa and Barrett's amazing chemistry via his lense. Hot damn! That photo at First Ave is killer. We are so lucky to get to work with such fun couples and wow - check out that bridal party! If you envy Jalisa's amazing curves then go check her out at Alchemy, she's a coach there. ;-)
We were host to one crazy beautiful wedding at 514 Studios last Saturday. Congrats to Bailey and Nick! The shot of our chalk wall with the bridesmaid's dresses is exactly why we designed that wall. Such a beautiful collection of dresses! And the photo of Bailey at the new vanity area in our Green Room! So excited to see couples enjoying our newly designed space. Great work Kellie Rae Photography!
What an amazing weekend at 514 Studios! We were lucky enough to host the wedding reception of Elizabeth and Leah, a couple with such amazing style we could sing their praises for days. The two celebrated their ceremony at the MN Landscape Arboretum then made their way to 514 to enjoy an intimate dinner by catered by The Birchwood Cafe. Beautiful photography by the fabulous Ashley Washburn.
Even a little rain couldn't dampen the mood for Leah and John. From the moment I met Leah and John (and Leah's awesome mom, Tracy) I couldn't wait to help host their wedding. Such a genuinely great match for one another. Leah and John don't take themselves too seriously, which makes them even that much more fun to work with.
Leah was one of the first brides at 514 Studios able to take advantage of the freshly redesigned bridal area also known as The Green Room. The space was completely redesigned to lend for better behind the scenes photos and these amazing photos from Lucas Botz Photography truly capture what a great space we've created to allow couples to relax and prep for their big day.
We're so thankful to be apart of such incredibly important days for couples like Leah and John.
